Twitter’s new censoring policy is doing rounds and the words used in the statement hint of a possible Chinese site of Twitter very soon. The communist country monitors the web more closely than any other in the world and the use of Twitter and Facebook during middle east revolutions aroused concerns in Chinese politics.
Google had to bow before the government and stopped its services in the country which asked for higher censorship on the results.
Twitters words have been slightly different from that of Google and Facebook. While Google and Facebook have insisted that ‘They’ll block a particular content in a country when ordered by the court of law’. While Twitters says ‘We’ll block Tweets with certain words or phrases if required by the laws of that particular country’
This sentence hints of a possible official launch of Twitter in China very soon. Twitter has gained exponential popularity in recent years but it still misses its presence in the world’s largest netizens country.
