Why Aakash tablet can be a failure?

During the launch of the much hyped gazette, Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said, “To improve the system of education in India. Soon, a 35 dollar computer will be made available to every child in school. The tablet shall help enhance the quality of learning of children.”
But is it really that capable to do the jobs it is expected to? Lets find out

1. Low processor

This gazette might not be able to perform just because it has a 336 MHz processor. The cheapest android phone from Spice has a 600 MHz processor as compared to the one in Aakash.

2. Low Battery

With just a 2100 mAH battery, it is expected to be off most of the times specially in rural India. With a tablet having just a 2100 mAH battery, using the device seamlessly can be a nightmare. Although, the Datawind claims Aaakash has 180 minutes of power backup, but the firm fails to mention what kind of usage is possible with it.

3. Poor Display and a Resistive Touch Screen

At highest brightness of the screen, it keeps reflecting light and that can make it tougher to use the device outdoors. The device has a resistive touchscreen which is a lot too resistive. It will not support multi touch and with time its effectiveness would fall.

4. No Android Market Place

Android phones are a success mostly due the quality and quantity of apps available in the Android Market Place. This device doesn't has access to that. The device runs on Android 2.1 and that can not be upgraded to the higher versions.

5. WiFi connectivity and no SIM card support

Internet can be accessed only through WiFi on this device and there is no slot for a SIM card. The government makes no statement how the students in the rural India would benefit from this device as far as access to Internet is concerned.

So if you have decided to own a one, then go ahead. If you are still uncertain, then give a deep thought to the kind of job you are expecting to perform on this device and then decide.
