Windows 8 Build 7989 Leaks to the Web…Be careful before you download

Search for Windows 8 Build 7989 and you'll get a thousand links to download the most sought after OS. The leak was reported by from BetaArchive who posted the build 7989.winmain.110421-1285.615974c7346f7374 in their forums, but very sensibly included with it the following disclaimer.

"It is currently unknown if this is real. In addition, this thread does not mean there will be a leak. If you wish to find out more you should go to the original source. This is just for informative purposes. You may judge whether it is real or not by the screenshots below. It is your OWN opinion."
They are, of course, absolutely correct in saying that there’s is no way whatsoever to determine the authenticity of the leaked build.  There is also the fact that this build, now available on some torrent websites has already been out for enough time to allow malware writers to inject code into it.
You should always be very careful in downloading and installing anything purporting to be a leaked build of Windows 8, whether genuine or otherwise.  Such software may carry malware or worse.
I say this because with the exception of BetaArchive nobody else appears to be doing so, and this is irresponsible.  While the majority of you here at Windows7News will know to be careful of anything downloaded from a Torrent site, a great many other people who are excited about Windows 8 won’t.
The formal announcement of a beta programme is expected this autumn from Microsoft.  Until then there’s no way to know how up to date this current build is and many features may be missing from it or removed in later builds.
