Microsoft reveals battery saver mode for Windows Phone Mango

The software giant demonstrated the feature at a German VIP Windows Phone Mango event last week.Winload reports that Battery Saver, activated from the settings menu, will allow Mango users to save device battery once the phone reaches a low amount of battery. Windows Phone Mango will disable push email, background applications and wi-fi networks automatically. Users can still check for email manually and use the text messages and phone features. Mango will automatically enable the features again once the device has been charged. The feature will come in handy for power users who regularly use devices features and run weak on battery.
Microsoft also revealed its plans for uploading videos to Facebook. Mango users will now be able to upload videos taken from their devices to Facebook or share them via MMS/email. Windows Phone 7 users can only currently “delete” videos from their devices, there are no options for sharing or sharing to Facebook. This is a welcome addition to Mango.
Microsoft is expected to make Mango available to retail Windows Phone developer devices in less than a month. The company has finalised all of Mango’s new features, marking it code complete in most areas. Microsoft is expected to RTM the update shortly to deliver it to key OEMs and worldwide carriers for the final parts of the testing phases. Microsoft unveiled a number of new Windows Phone Mango features on Tuesday. Mango will include over 500 new features ranging from multitasking through to some major Bing search improvements.
